White Buffalo is a boutique print studio that I own and operate from my home in Agoura Hills. Just a short drive over the canyon from Malibu I live with my husband, our Son and our cat, Scooter. I never imagined we would leave West LA for the suburbs, let alone back where I grew up. Though, once I had my Son, the choice to live near family and old friends was an easy one to make.

Boutique print studio is something I began calling myself a few years back, mainly because I did not like saying ‘small’. As far as print studios go, I am small and operate out of house, but I feel that word can sometimes hold us back from growth.

The White Buffalo artist team works with us mainly on consignment while I run the day to day. At the start, I attended several trade shows on my own building out my client base, then slowly moved on to working with reps/agents who would attend on our behalf. Post Covid, we are finding that online sales is the best fit for us. Not only does it eliminate unnecessary waste, but operating my business alone, it also eliminates the very high cost for printing to fabric and prep time during this slower season.

At the tail end of 2019, I began working with print designers in the apparel space looking for guidance, industry insight, marketing strategy specific to our field as well as portfolio development. I am hoping I can share what I have learned starting up my studio and that it can bring value whether you are just starting out or looking to grow.
