I love the Nicole Miller SS20 collection. The luxe silhouettes and the print mixing is just gorgeous. I just want to lounge around the house all day long in one of those beautiful kimonos. What I see here that is most important for development is the print mixing. The foulards with the larger blooms and the tie dye, there is so much we can pull here wether you work in juniors, womenswear or sleepwear. I like that there is no particular print focus, rather the focus is on the fact that it is eclectic.
The concept of the Nicole Miller SS20 collection is called Lost & Found which was inspired by a trip she had taken to Tokyo many years ago and how it felt to return there. The idea of DejaVu. Then she added touches of ’90s boho and French-girl chic into the mix.
What we can take from what Nicole Miller did with her SS20 collection is to infuse your personal life into your work based on past experiences, new experiences, things you love, things you come across in life and pull it all together to create something new.
When I talk about design niche and market focus in my workshops I talk a lot about the importance of being uniquely you and how this will draw your ideal clients to you. It is beautiful what happens when we are true to our authentic self.
